Can't have more than one Default gateway

I have 2 NICs, one for the internal.  I am trying to configure the external with a static ip, subnet, gateway, and DNS. I keep getting an error that says "Can't have more than one default gateway".  What is that?  Oh yeah this is ASL6

    Probably means you put a gateway on one of the internal cards. You really need to put the gateway on the external interface if you want to communicate with the world.
    You then put the the internal interface address as a gateway in the DHCP server for each internal NIC.

    Works well.
