cmd line force dhcp release

Hello,

Im not comfortable with the astaro directory structure and the dhcp related commands I have entered so far havent worked for me. Could anyone tell me the correct syntaxt (including path) to force a release of a nics dhcp lease?

    This might void your support contract, but it's the only way I can think of to do it:

    "Down" the interface (click the green traffic light icon next to your interface)

    Go to /var/chroot-dhcpc/var/
    and find the lease files and rename them

    re-enable the interface.
    It should send a new DHCP request to the server.

    note that the server may still give the same IP to ASL.

    I thought I would revisit this to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.
     
    My asl box gets its IP from the cable provider. Every once in a while it will not release/renew the IP it has. This isnt an issue of the dhcp server matching my mac, the network support people are releasing making sure that isnt the case, and I have confirmed it on other systems which will grab a new ip at each request. Unfortunately the asl box is determined to keep the ip.  Not a big issue since its only happened a few times in two years and it magically goes away (gotta love the problems that magically go away after a bit) but I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask if anyone else has seen this behavior or has a recomendation.
