Installation v.6.1 failed

Hallo,

i try to install ASL 6.1 on a AMD 1000 with 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD and 5 Nics. The installation from CD works fine. After reboot and before configuration starts, i become a lot of 02 02 02 02 on the screen and nothing else.

Have someone an idea?

I too had similar LILO error-codes whilst installing.  Originally was getting "L 07 07 07 ..." on first reboot after installation (v6.1).  (My box is a Compaq Presario PIII 500mhz, 384Mb, 20Gb HD, 2x100Mb NICs).

It was a long voyage of discovery and frustration after which, I figured it out.  Compaq had installed my hard drive in the 'disk1' interface to the IDE ribbon and my dvd/cd as 'disk0'.  With both disks set to 'cable-select' this appears to have caused LILO to look for the mbr on the dvd drive and fail.

Swapping the connections solved the problem.

fwiw, at one point in the trouble-shooting process I changed my boot order in the bios to make my hard drive first and, while it didn't solve the problem, it changed the LILO error-code to "L 02 02 02 ..."

Moral of the story...

...manually set the jumpers and wipe your hard drive before install?

Put your hd on the primary ide and the cd on the secondary. Set in the bios "user defined HDD Type", then set LBA system.
Reinstall 6.1
