Intel Pro 1000MT Dual NIC ?

Hi,
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1850 server on wich I am trying to install ASL v6.100 on. The server has 2x Intel Pro 1000MT dual Nics in PCI-e slots, and 2 onboard nics.

During installation only 2 onboard nics is detected by Astaro. The Pro 1000MT dual nics are not detected.
I have checked the HCL and the Pro 1000MT cards are here !

What is going on ? Do I need to do something special to make this work ?
Its very frustrating to buy hardware on the HCL - and discover that it does'nt work with Astaro.

Please advice.

Using DELL PowerEdge server as ASL with 2 onboard NICs and 2 Intel PCI DualPort NICs, so 6 ports in summary.
Working fine since V5, also V6.1.
Not in the office, so don't know hardware details, but remember something that BIOS settings had to be checked well.

Theres a few different flavours of 1000MT cards it seems.

I think they changed chip somewhere along the line...

I want buy some nics with dual port or quad port, but I want know if Intel's nic will work. Whant brand of nic's do you recommend buy ????

ALT: got an intel quad 1000MT - works fine using e1000 driver. (tested since the V6betas)

Intel has only PCI-X version of quad-port 1000 MT Server adapter based on two 82546 chips, please see here:

And PCIe is available with 8257x chips only:

Unfortunately I can't see any separate boards produced by Intel itself based on 8257x chips, only LOMs...

I have the same problem BTW with 82573 LOM chips on PCI Express bus and ASG 6.102

Hi,

we have exactly the same problem here with a DELL 1850...

It's definitely an issue with the pci device IDs... the new NIC has the ID 108A which is not supported (according to modinfo) by the e1000 module version which comes with ASL 6.102.

However, there is a newer version of the e1000 kernel module on the intel website (V 6.2.15) which does cover the new device IDs but I have know idea how to install this one [:(]

Does anybody has a clue how to compile this new version of the e1000 module for usage with the ASL kernel version 2.6.10-33-SMP...
