Packet drops

Hi there.

I have a strange problem on my astaro box (vers. 6.004). There seems to be a serious packet drop, but there appear no errors when I run ifconfig. First I thought it was the switch, so I changed that. Then I changed the cables and finally the hole server (I had a spare:-), but no change. Ping tells me that I have a packet drop at 10 to 60 % on all nics. Both internal and external.
The server is a Dell Poweredge 1750 with broadcom nics.

Any suggestions?

    Please provide the hardware configuration of the box. You might want to check and see if all cards have been assigned an IRQ.

    As you can see I have tried to force the nic and the switch into 100fdx, instead of autoneg. I thought that might be the problem. However that was not the case.

    What else do you need?

    I can't see any packet drop. It is running full duplex, with plenty of throughput. I don't understand how you can get collisions on a full duplex network, but that could have been at cable plug time.

    From that report I can't see a problem.

    I was actually after the configuration of the PC, cpu, ram, cards etc.

    It is a dual xeon 2,8 with 2GB ecc ram. Onboard broadcom 57xx nics. Astaro recognises them as Dell NetXtreme BCM5704 Gigabit Ethernet. Scsi drives… a nice box.

    Could be spoofing drops, check if there are any in your Packet-Filter log.

    Affecting both internal and external interfaces? Anyway, I couldn’t see anything.

    Next silly question, what are you pinging? Doesn't appear to be the box.

    Rune,
    please post the configuration of your ethernet cards as displayed in Astaro
    ip address, mask, gateway for both eth0 and eth1 assuming they are internal and external.
