snmp daemon not running - restarted

This happens at a regular base...Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks

Daniel

  • Yeah, open a support ticket... even when I do this for customers that have only silver support contracts, I get very fast responses, and the fix is normally pretty quick.

  • have heard that snmp in V6 causes such problems which are actually not fixed.

on astaro knowledgebase is also a known issue listed:
ID2935 6.001 SNMPd loses track of interface indexes
    ---------------------------------------------------
Description: Interface graphs in reporting may not be calculated correctly
for reconnecting PPP interfaces (e.g. DSL).
    Workaround:  ---
    Fix:         ---

this is all related to the problem of continuosly restarted the snmp daemon
  • Same problem here:

[INFO-116] snmpd daemon not running - restarted
snmp daemon not running - restarted

    ASL 6.200

SNMP daemon is not even configured.

Had the same problem with the winbind daemon after we tried to register the box to an NT domain. We did not actually want that to happen anyway so info was bogus info. We deactivated the NT coupling and also the option in the webadmin. After that this message of winbind daemon not running - restarted appeared. This was solved by backing up config data, restoring the config data and rebooting the box. The snmp problem was also gone but after a few days it re-appeared again. once again: SNMP is not active at the moment, although had been configured before.
