installation of ASL 6.001 failed .

Is anybody out there?
Does anyone encountered my @#@##€??? (censored) problem?

I'm having the same issue, this is on an MSI-6390 with an AMD 1500+ 256m 15G EIDE hard drive.  So far I've tried using several CD-ROMs and changing some the of the settings in the motherboard. No success yet.  I have installed without issue on a virtual pc (different box) using the iso image however on the real thing no go.  
When you install use the Alt-F3 and Alt-F4 to track where it's hanging up at.  This may give you some insight into any underlying issues.

  In my views,your installing CD-ROM of ASL 6.001 have some errors.I have installed the ASL V6 ,but I have not faced problems as you.Maybe you must download the ASL softwares again from astaro.

Thanks for all the good help, I did download v6 again, however it met the same unfortunate fate as the other failed installs. On v6.001 install it would copy everthing over with crc's happy then when installing  it over into the partitions would fail on one piece of the install, generally not the same one though.  I tried several different hard drives in an attempt to find the problem, including SCSI without success. I did however try v5 and was able to get it installed.  Rather odd..., anyway for the moment I will get things setup on v5 then I will delve back into the cause for the failure of v6.

I'm having the same issue. The first time I tried to install v6 it said FAILED on Installing Packages. All the times after that it said FAILED on Formatting Blade Partition. There used to be a v5 on the machine and there is a v5 on it now... again... so I don't suspect any hardware problems. Anyone know if the HCL has changed much between v5 and v6? Any other ideas?

Only once in 23 times everything was good , 15 times ago , but I want test the installer:
why one good and the rest not ( on the same computer ), is so random the thing?

after a long time I discover my system issue,
it was an error on the hardware configuration nics;
on old Asus MB the first PCI slot under the agp slot must be free without boards connected in and for the second issue more slow is the machine more slow must be the speed of the CdROM or DVD drive.
So, what can I say, I'm really sorry with ASL Team it was not the installer

Next time do not stick to your bottom line. You were expecting that the ASL copy is 100% error. You should have after your third failed time, redownload the software, reburn it, replace the PC .... Trial and Error.

As what I did for my Cobion Protection. I did everything, lately the support that it is a bug !!! Waiting for their solution.

micio, yesterday during setup a new 6.1 box, i've seen the same problems. I loose hours to found the reason for this problem, burned the image twice on two different pc's, use different mb settings.

The problem was a brandnew asus DVD Drive, after replace this with a 5 years old cd-rom drive, the installation finished without problems.

But with the Asus DVD  Drive is nothing wrong, a installation from a Suse 9 DVD on the same Hardware works fine.

i have the exact same problem, multiple sample boxen.

there is no rhyme or reason for the failure and no real explenation.

to be honest, i'm not terribly impressed with astaro at all.  all their partitions are in ext3 which is okay i guess, but their installer is the wrost installer i have ever used.

they need to consider basing their product off of debian and reutilising their installer, it is far more powerfull and easier to fix issues.

i will post if i find the issue to be something worthy of sharing.
