Update HDD driver in 5.206

Hello,

I would just like a bit of advice in getting my hardware set up properly on my 5.206 install.

I'm using an Abit KT7-Raid motherboard which has 4 IDE sockets on it - 2 standard 40pin & 2 80pin ATA 100's.

Now when i installed w2k on it ages ago, early in the install it gives an option to install any scsi or ide drivers needed to detect drives, & i install the Highpoint drivers required & all is well.

Astaro install doesn't (or does it) have a similar option to do this. At the moment, the intall didn't detect my drive on the enhanced port & i had to swap the drive over to one of the slow ide ports. Everything works at the moment, but as most of my traffic is proxied, my hdd is becoming a bit of a bottleneck & i want to rectify this. That, & i'd also like to stripe the drive at some stage also, so i'll need it set up correctly for that.

How do i install these drivers on a currently running install. (or do i have to reinstall?)

    I have several Abit motherboards, including the KT7A-Raid, which use the Highpoint IDE controller chip. The only drivers that I have ever gotten to work with the Highpoint chip are the ones for Windows (Win2K & WinXP). I have therefore resigned myself to the fact that these Abit motherboards are best used as Windows machines.

    If using the slow IDE connections are not good enough, and swapping the motherboard out for a different one is not an option, you might consider getting a separate PCI IDE controller card  that is compatible with ASL.

    Higpoint lack drivers for most operating systems other than Windows. I could not find NetWare drivers for it either.

    The real problem here is Highpoint. They simply won't support anything other than Microsoft Windows. The problem is not with Linux or Astaro.
