Far over max concurrent connection...

hello,

I use a 10 users / 2000 max concurrent connection Astaro V5.206 system.

My system is currently showing more than 5000 concurrent connections....

Is there any consequence ?

And today the /var/wfe/livelog.fpl process went over 66% of cpu usage...
System is running on a Dual PIII866 / 512Mb RDRam.
I was suffering extreme ping (800+) when playing on internet game servers....

    How's your bandwidth usage looking?

    Normally pings only go up when bandwidth is saturated.

    I know,

    I had also very high bandwith usage from 10pm to 24pm....
    Which I can't explain....

    One detail: my packet filter log for yersteday was 588Mb large.... [:S]

    Regarding the High CPU load yersteday and Bandwith usage: I had only my computer and the routeur powered on.

    Regarding the High Concurrent connection, yes I sometimes use P2P software.
    But concurrent is always at 5000 whether the software is running or not.

    ok, I solve the ping problem...

    It is due to the following fact:
    - I have a teamspeak server on a computer inside my LAN
    - ASL is set to forward packet corresponding to this application to the correct host.
    - When I'm connected to a Teamspeak server outside my LAN, I do suffer very high pings....

    But:
    - I'm still over the 2000 Concurrent Connections...
    Any impact on ASL ?

    2000 should be OK, but you really should try to find out what's causing it.

    I've had eMule running for the last 30 hours, and have
    223 current
    204 avg
    408 max

    on ASL 5.2x

    My home licence allows a maximum of 32.000 concurrent connections. So I don't see any problems with 2.000 concurrent connections.

    Hi Caspritz,

    if you update/renew your License you will get the 2000 Restriction...
    IIRC even the old v5 Licenses had the 2000 Connections Restriction in the Product description, but the Licensekey got it wrong somehow...

    i've stopped all P2P software on my LAN.
    I'm still after 2 days at 4.97K of concurrent connections ....
    I've got running on my lan:
    -ASL
    -1 Ubuntu Web/mail server
    -1 Kiss DIVX Player
    -3 workstations (without P2P)

    I really think I've got a pb here....

    Unless ASL conntracking is broken (and I don't believe it is), then you've got problems with your network.
    (e.g. malware)

    1 turn everything on LAN off

    2 reset asl connection tracking (if available) & shutdown & poweroff ASL

    power off modem
    wait
    power on modem and ASL

    wait

    3 check connections on ASL.

    4 if rising, run tcpdump or other sniffer on ASL or on raw internet connection

    5 turn on 1 PC.

    wait

    6 check connections

    7 GoSUB 4

    8 turn on 2nd PC

    ...

    i've just upgraded to ASL V6, and I've got 33 concurrent connections.

    All seems fine now.

    i'll keep a copy of your post just in case [:)]

    As I mentioned in another post allready...I too suffer from this strange behaviour. My smtp-proxy sometimes stops wioth a warning that there are too many connections. My upstream provider recently blocked us because of too much connections but the connection table hardly shows 30 or 40 connections (unrealistic for a network of more then 200 active users)
