Upgrade to V6 for ASG and IGWall: When available ?

Hi there,

I heard that the upgrade to V6 for the hardware box has been withdrawn due to technical problems.
Is there any information when the Upgrade will be available again ?

Next to some ASG boxes we have customers with IGWall Hardboxes.
How has the Upgrade to be done there ?
- Upgrade button ?
- Reinstall with external USB-CDROM-Drive ?
- Other possibilities ?

    As the Upgrade is now available, my question concerning how to upgrade an Astaro-SW residing on an IGWall Appliance becomes urgent.

    Wouldn't it be better to ask the manufactures of IGWall? Just because it is powered by Astaro... I believe the upgrade is for ASG appliances only.

    It took a while up to now to get an answer from the distributor in switzerland. So I hoped to get an answer here earlier.

    The answer is: Send us the box, we open it, put in a CDROM, install ASL V6, remove the CDROM and send it back with a bill.

    So I am wondering whether I would better try to do it myself with an external CDROM via USB. 
    For when the distributor opens the box, normally the warranty will be void an we had two IGWalls in the last weeks with hardware failure and warranty replacement.

    Hi,

    distris mostly do the first line support, so they are normally allowed to open and repair the boxes. And by the way, those appliances are nothing more than a really cheap pc in a small form -factor.

    Hi Chris,

    I surely know that. But it looks like a not very professional way to upgrade. I would much more prefer a way to add a USB CDROM switch something in the bios to be able to boot via CDROM and upgrade that way.

    I would not fear to destroy anything, but we had two such appliances in the last weeks with hardware failure within warranty time so our customers don´t want the warranty to be void....

    Hi,

    thats why I try to avoid selling cheap Astaro appliances. 99% of the appliances are bs hardware, or hardware bottom line products found on the chinese (no offence :-) to chinese or fish) fishmarket.

    Hi Chris,

    I just got the informationa that:

    IGWALL S2 does not meet the hardware requirements to install ASL V6.
    Probably Astaro will offer special bids for customers who change from other hardware boxes towards ASL boxes.

    Conclusion: I won´t sell any more ASL boxes on any other hardware than ASL boxes or server hardware.
    Too much trouble.
