Up2Date could not extract tar from gpg 5.101

I have this problem while installing Up2Date package 5.101.tar.gpg

I have re-downloaded it twice and continue to get the same errors. 

I am, of course, on version 5.100. I just noticed today that these were not being installed even though i thought they they were automatically installed. So I gave it a try and I get the error. 

I did search for information on this but didn't find anything specific to my problem except for one post. The reply suggested deleting all up2date packages from the console and said that info about this was all over the board here. I couldn't find any info on how to log into the console let alone delete the files. 

Any help would be appreciated

    Hello chass,

    - the information is right:

    If you have a corrupt packet, then you should delete it via console.
    This means using for example PuTTY (or just sit in front of the screen if you have one attached to your firewall); login as "loginuser"
    then switch to "root" via command "su".
    cd /var/up2date
    There you can find the corrupt packet and delete it.

    Second, the Up2Date packeges were "prefetched". That means your ASL is downloading them automatically but WILL NOT install them.
    The reason is easy: Some Up2Date packages need to restart the system, most of them are resetting your active IP and VPN connections.
    The administrator needs to take care that this will not happen during work time and can install them on a specified time.

    Third, in your case i would strongly recommend you, to download the latest V5 iso (5.204) and reinstall your system.
    You would need to apply so many Up2Date packages that this is the faster way.
    Just download it, burn it, backup your configuration, install 5.204, restore your config.
    Should need not more than 1/2 hour.

    Don't think about installing V6 now (instead of 5.204) if you have a complex configuration.
    Because your configuration from 5.100 backup will not work on V6.

    I am no newbie to BBSes  and I did search for answers to my questions. As with every board there is always someone who will jump on your back for not searching so I thought I'd throw that in before it happened. I'm sure the information is here but not particularly easy to find so I started a thread that had all the search words that "I" was looking for in it [;)] !

    Have you read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ?? 
    They waited millions of years to get the "right" answer (which was in fact '42').
