Gigabit NIC

I recently decided to upgrade my firewall to v6. Part of the upgrade included a new nic card. Specifically i am using a Linksys EG1032. When i installed V6 the card was recognized as one of two nics in my system. HOWEVER when the install was complete and i cheked the installed ethernet controllers on my firewall it was not listed?! Ideas? Solutions?

PS The second nic is a dell gigabit nic which is built onto the motherboard?

    The motherboard Ethernet is likely to be a Broadcom chip, so there you are OK. Otherwise, as the hardware compatibility list shows, the folks at Astaro really like Intel Ethernet cards. Buy one of those for your firewall, and put the Linksys card in a Windows XP workstation.
