is hardware failure notification possible ?

I want to use a Dell Powerdge 1850 server with redundant power supply and scsi raid 1 as an astaro machine. I also want to be notified when a hardware failure occurs (hard drive failure or power supply failure) so that I can schedule a replacement during maintenance periods. Does anyone have a clue on how I can achive this ?

    You'd have to install Dell's agents, or another agent compatible with the driver for the RAID controller.

    Either way, you'd likely be voiding your ASL support.

    BTW, in my experience, these things (Dells) beep a lot when something breaks, so if you have people around the machine, maybe they could let you know.

    I finally chose to install a DRAC 4 card into my DELL server in order to manage it from a distance. It allows me to receive SNMP traps when a hardware component fails, without having to tweak Astaro.
