[6.001] NIC with LWL doesn't work

Hello,

after the asl v6 installation the Intel Ethernet controller doesn't work any more. About this interface the firewall isn't obtainable. With v5 it has worked.

Does anybody have the same problem and a solution?

Before the installation, during the hardware detection is the NIC correctly as Intel NIC recognized. After the installation it is said in Network -> Interfaces > Hardware List, however, 'no hardware description available'.

I believe the "no hardware description" issue is a known, cosmetic-only bug, which shouldn't cause any problems.

What is LWL?

LWL is a german abbreviation for optic fibre.

BarryG you are right. The NIC can be activated by hand and works then. But I don't get any connection to this interface if I select the NIC during the installation. Even if I load the old configuration from ASL 5.2 to the new ASL 6, I get no more connection to the NIC. [:(]

it's apparently not just an issue with gigabit nics-- i've got the same problem on a pair of intel pro100 nics shared on the motherboard of an ibm eserver x-series 300 and had the exact same problem... load v6 and they don't work properly... load v5 and i can suddenly ping the interfaces and load the webadmin...

and my open trouble ticket technician tells me there are no outstanding issues... i'm pointing him to this thread lol.
