[ASL 6.001] Hangs after approx 10 minutes

Hi Forum members,

I tried to install a ASL 6.0 on a multiprocessor motherboard its a dual P3 450 MHz with 256 Meg ram.
The ASL has 2 Realtek RT8139 NICS. (tried to change them to other nics)

The firewall works for about 10 minutes and then it freezes (Kernel panic?).(Even feels faster than the ASL 5.2  [;)] )
No replys on ping, Keyboard does not work.

Things I have enable on the firewall.
DNS PROXY
SMTP PROXY
Masquerading
Packetfilters
1 VPN tunnel
Nothing else . 

I have tried to import my old 5.2 configuration and I have also tried to do a fresh minimal configuration NAT + Packet filter, nothing else enable. The firewall behaves the same way, approx 5-10 minutes and then it freezes.

Anyone has any clues?
Any log files I should post?
ASL 5.2 works without any problems.

    I would assume the problem is related to the hardware. I would recommend the test especially the RAM. Are other systems running fine on that machine?
    If you thinks it's no related to the hardware. Could you please post a screenshot of the kernel panic?

    I did not say it did kernel panic. Just a thought.
    Its totaly hangs, cant even login to it local.

    I do not think its the hardware. Since I have now downgraded the machine to an ASL 5.2 and then everything works again.

    Any log files that i should post?

    The kernel log might give some informations. Otherwise Astaro Support would need a detailed hardware description and a backup of the system.

    Hi,
    We had a similar problem with our dual-cpu Intel servers. With APIC enabled, the IRQ's for the NIC cards were assigned a high IRQ: 25 and 26. There was no way to manually assign the IRQ's. The server would become completely unresponsive - no video, NIC's unresponsive, etc. after several hours.
    We installed ASL with the NOAPIC option, disabling the second CPU, and the NIC cards got assigned IRQ 10. We haven't had a problem since (it's been 6 months).

    Thanks Fiercefritz,

    Will try to install without APIC. And see what happends. 

    I would not be that happy if I got it to work with just 1 CPU. Since  this is my home FW and i would like to be able to use 2 CPU in the machine instead of buying new hardware. But i will give it a shoot.
