2 hr old Astaro 320 crashing for 5-20 minutes

got Astaro 320 in mail. Opened box. Lost and found mounting brackets.
Powered on machine, configured passwords, changed internal ip to my values, configured external nic. Set up some packet filter rules and my networks from my trial boxes values. All that junk ran fine.

Installed box on netwrok rack, did up2dates and patterns. Now the machine has crashed 3 times in 4 hrs. Restarted once from the front panel.

been pinging for 30 minutes now and it is alright. So it is working as of right now. I guess I will test somemore before I put our netowrk on it. 

Anybody have any ideas...it is not pingable and web admin doesn't work during those periods. (did the ASL box because it was actaully $2500 cheaper for unlimited users and hardware than a 150 user pack software and content /IPS/ and support ... i outsource spam for $10 a month)

    Did you buy support with your unit? I would just get an RMA and return. Of course if you have the internal and external interfaces plugged into the same switch it will cause spoofing issues shutting down one or both of your interfaces.

    Yeah, we got support. I was hoping it would just fix itself. Hoping that some remnants of the updates from 5.200 -> 5.201 -> 5.202 were the culprit. I guess I will get on the horn with the distributor...who will in turn get in touch with Astaro since I don't have my fulll license et (not generated by astaro or some crap).

    btw. IPS not on, only http proxy and packet filters. It did it again this morning...I will post a picture of the live packet filter and my ping.

    This screenshot (with MAC Spoofing) suggests me that m5systems might be correct about your network settings. Please explain your net conf with a bit more details.

    Some of the up2dates have been known to disable the network for a while.

    I have a cisco 1700 on the external subnet with 5 IP's. The eth1 is plugged into a linksys switch which supports those 5 external ips. it then plugs into the cisco. the internal (eth0) is plugged into a 3com layer 3 managed switch on oiur network backbone. I have been wondering about that spoofing mac address stuff. I can't get them out of my filter...whereas normal DNS and Net bios (withought headers) get through fine.

    One of the other ports from that exteral IP linksys plugs into our network as the main gateway (I am debugging but will more than likely leave the original gateway up and going for backup. It is plugged into a netgear switch on our backbone.

    I read about some up2dates in the forums and the resulting issues. That is why i explained my up2date process.

    Well, it seems to me that you kind of a loop there (access for the same switch from different interfaces). Disconnect your local net from eth0 and use just a test net (cross cable for example) and try again. I am quite sure this is the reason.

    It has not done it since the earlier post. That will be the next thing i try thoguh. Will this get rid of the spoofin deal? Is that what that nonsense is.

    I think MagicMike is on target. There is a network path between the internal and external interfaces, so ASL is seeing packets on an unexpected interface. You can also have problems if the subnets for the different interfaces are not different.

    Sounds like you hit the nail in the head (on target). I will find out tommorrow when some help I hired comes along. Any idea how to keep 2 gateways then (astaro and the current one)? I want to test a bit more, and also have a backup / contingency plan just in case.

    Spoofing suggests that more than one interface is exposed to another which will cause major problems. Make sure all the interfaces on the Astaro are physically seperated from each other.
