tmpfs partition mounted at /opt/tmpfs filling up

This morning I received a notification that "tmpfs partition mounted at /opt/tmpfs is filling up - please check" and "Please refer to the manual for detailed instructions".  Does anyone know where this is covered in the manual, or why we are receiving this notification?  The log partition is only 2% full.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Alan

  • What does
    du -sh /opt/tmpfs/*|egrep "(M|G)"

    return?

  • Hi Barry, thanks for your reply.  I did not have permission to issue the command under loginuser, we do not have a monitor or kb setup on this server.  When using ls -la in the opt/tmpfs I noticed a rather large zip file, tried to delete, but did not have permission to do that either.  Shutdown, and restarted ASL and zip file was gone.  I believe I read in another post in forums that opt/tmpfs is a temp/ramdisk dir.

    Thanks for your help, so far it looks like a reboot is all it took.  We'll see if I continue to receive further notifications.

  • Correct, tmpfs is a ramdisk, so the contents are flushed when rebooting. Might have been interesting what file caused the tmpfs directory to fill up, though ...
