DSL Connection/Static IP's

Hello

I am looking for help on setting up a dsl connection with astaro,
I have a 2 meg adsl connection with static ips, connection type PPPoA.
The modem i am using is a D-link DSL-300T.

The details of the ips are as follows,

IP Range = xxx.xxx.xxx.104 - xxx.xxx.xxx.111
Network address = xxx.xxx.xxx.104
Broadcast address = xxx.xxx.xxx.111
Router address = xxx.xxx.xxx.110
Subnet = 255.255.255.248
Subnet slash notation = xxx.xxx.xxx.104 / 29

What i want to do is set up the connection correctly and bind the remaining
static ip's to the interface so i can use them for my server's.

Am i right in think that i set the D-Link modem to bridge?
Then add the interface "PPTP over Ethernet (PPPoA-DSL) Connection"?


Address - "xxx.xxx.xxx.110"
Default Gateway - "xxx.xxx.xxx.110"
Modem IP Address - "xxx.xxx.xxx.110"
NIC IP Address - "xxx.xxx.xxx.105"
NIC Netmask - "255.255.255.248"
Address to Ping - "ISP DNS"
Username - "ISP Username"
Password - "ISP Password"


I am unsure of the values to be entered here above are these correct,
any help would be greatful.

I am running Astaro 5.2

    Yes, setup the modem in bridge mode.

    You probably have a primary IP assigned by the ISP?  Use that in the interface dialog.  You could also try setting them to auto-assign as usually the ISP will auto-assign a static anyway.

    Forget about the other IP addresses you have been assigned for the time being.  Get the PPPoA up first.  (Add the other IP's as additional IP's on the interface AFTER you have it setup.)

    By 'router address' I assume you mean default gateway.

    Just an addition to Simon's answer:

    I think you even do not need to add the alias interfaces. Just create some DNATs to redirect the packets with the different destination IPs you bought to the corresponding server.

    Thanks for the views after reading abit more i have found the,

    Modem IP Address i think astaro is after is the IP hardwired to the router eg 192.168.1.1
    therefore the NIC ip will be 192.168.1.2 am i correct in saying this.

    The router IP i refered to is the IP my ISP gave me as my main Modem/Router IP.

    If i select the type PPPoE it connects no problems but i cant seem to get it too connect with PPPoA like it should.

    What is the difference between the PPPoA and PPPoE will using PPPoE be fine? I would still rather get PPPoA working if possible.
