Upgrade ASL 4.026 to 5.200 with log files

We want to upgrade our Astaro appliance with ASL 4.026 to version 5.200. The log files are very interesting for us, so we want to transfer them to the new release. How can we do that?

wir setzen zur Zeit eine Appliance von Astaro mit Softwareversion 4.026 ein und möchten diese auf die aktuelle Version updaten. Da für uns die Log-Dateien von hoher Bedeutung sind, möchten wir diese bei dem Update nicht verlieren. Ein Transfer von der Appliance auf einen Windows-PC und dann nach dem Update wieder in die Appliance mit V5 wäre schön, damit man dann die Auswertungen auch wieder machen kann. Kann mir jemand sagen, in welcher Reihenfolge man wie genau vorgehen muss, um die Log-Dateien zu sichern und wieder einzuspielen? Wenn man diese auch gescheit auf dem Windows-PC auswerten könnte, dann würde sich ein Restore u.U. ergeben.

    you have to make a backup of your logfiles, if you do not want to loose them. Use SCP or WinSCP to copy the logfiles in your version 4 ASL, directory /var/log/ to another machine. Afterwards, install the latest patch 4.026 (minimum 4.021) and make a backup of the configuration. Download the v5 ISO, install it on the machine and re-copy (if you want and the hard disk is big enough) to the v5. You can create a directory on your new installtion (e.g. cd /var/log; mkdir version4Logs) and copy the 'old' logs into that directory.
