but I saw that bittorrent is really slow downloading... (15 peers 6 seeds with 16kbyte of speed on my 1280kbit ADSL) [:S]

and I just want to know if it's a problem on my astaro configuration or it's normal  [:S]

In emule I have the "test port" option and the "lowid" and "firewalled" signal to show me if the things are right or not.

On bittorrent I haven't anything like this  [:(]

Bit Torrent download speed will vary quite dramatically from one swarm to another. Just because the download from the current swarm that you are participating in is going slow, that is not a good reason to blame or suspect your ASL router. If you are trying to test if you can max out your inbound link bandwidth, without the ASL router causing any impediments (which it shouldn't), then get  4 or 5 different Bit Torrent downloads going at the same time, and you'll see that you can fill the link to the max.

unfortunately my ISP check the MAC of my ethernet card, and if it change, I can't connect to the internet for hours... so I can't test it this way, just because if I try to remove now my ASL router, I'll start downloading from 2 hours from now... and after that, if I connect again my ASL router, I'll must wait another 2 hours before compare the result  [:(]

There isn't any other way to test it?

The torrent files are seeded from the same people, and the last week, without the ASL router I downloaded them at 140kbyte/sec ... now I'm downlading at 22kbyte/sec!  [:O]

p.s. I haven't seen any using Bit Tornado as the client for downloading .torrent files... like I do now  [:S]
I don't know if I must change something (what?) on my BT client or not  [:S]

I tried azureus bt client... after some minutes my laptop's PIV 2000Mhz cpu usage go to 99-100% (the only process that use cpu is java): it's normal?  [:S]

If you run Azureus, which is written in Java, and therefore starts up the Java run time environment, you really need more than 256 MB RAM in the machine. With 512 MB, or even 384 MB installed, it should work fine.

If you have too little RAM, such as 256 MB or even less, you get excessive disk swapping and CPU utilization. Provided you have enough RAM installed, Azureus, or any Bit Torrent client for that matter, will not put a significant load on the CPU.

it was a java version problem.
with the latest version the cpu is about 5-6%

another question... how to let more than 1 client to run bittorrent behind the firewall?  [:S]

If you have more than one workstation running Bit Torrent clients, you need to create a separate SNAT rule for each to handle the server side of the Bit Torrent client. Simply use TCP port 6881 for the server on the first client machine, TCP port 6882 for the second one, TCP port 6883 for the third one, etc.

I would strongly recommend that you do not do this, since when you are running multiple Bit Torrent clients through the same broadband modem, you are extremely likely to saturate the link in both directions. If all the simultaneous Bit Torrent downloads were done by a single client, you can easily control the total bandwidth usage through that client. The Bit Torrent client that I use, Azureus, allows complete bandwidth control of the traffic in each direction. With multiple clients running, it is not that simple to do effective bandwidth management on the common broadband link.
