Sorry about that but it's pretty much the same kind of question...I'm just being a little silly...it's late and I need to go to sleep... [:)]

Ghosting is fast and good if you are keeping the hardware configuration the same.  Install + backup is good all the way around although the install itself can take a bit longer...

I myself like grapes; fermented ones.

The key determinant is: PATCHES. How frequent and numerous are the Up2Dates??

If you think there will be many, restoring an image will save you the trouble of repatching multiple patches (unless you had the good fortune to leverage off a recently patched ISO Astaro makes available for download every so many patches...).

Feature request: an ability to have Astaro roll through a set of patches, as opposed to having an admin be forced to babysuit the machine while each of a series of patches is being applied...

Depends.. Is the new HDD larger?

If so you may find it a hassle resizing partitions if you Ghost.
I'd backup and do a fresh install and then restore.

it is like follows:
the new hdd is about the same size (both 20gig +- some hundred mb).
partitionresizing in ghost is not the problem, i did it many times before.
to precisice my question:
im running 5.200. is it possible to install the new 5.200 iso and just restore the config? or is it a problem?
as far as i know a reinstall would run as follows: i install the iso, configure the internal nic as it was before, and then i apply the old config.
does asl run as it did before?

Absolutely; no problem; you can do it. It will work just the same.

My point was: what if the ISO is 5.201, and later they make ten patches (Astaro goes to version 5.211). When you reinstall, not only will you need to restore the config, but apply ten patches. Not a calamity, but just being full disclosure about what will be entailed.

If you did a recent image of the disk, you won't need to reapply all those patches.

I´ve just done the same thing with a new 5.200 iso image and a config file from an old 5.007, and even this went just fine.

no problem at all. the backup feature is implented for this kind of things. 

i just didn know if the differences between the 2 versions are important or not.
