Homebrew Kernel modules

Hello all,

I am currently running Smoothwall on my gateway but I really want to change to ASL 5.2

My gateway is an old Toshiba notebook (slim design, silent, low power consumption), I will therefor have to build kernel modules for pcmcia. As the sourcecode at least for 5.1 is available, this could eysily be done. after that I would have to include cardmgr to manage pcmcia cards. I was wondering whether there was some kind of "modding" community for asl? Has anyone ever run ASL with a "homegrown" kernel? Does Up2Date still work after that?

Big thanks in advance,

DiePlage
