unable to restore backup

Hello,

I reinstalled my home firewall as it was running very old version 5.023. I took the backup and reinstalled with 5.200 ISO. Now when i try to restore the backup it just hangs and does'nt do anything. I have tried rebooting the firewall but no luck. Has anyone facing this problem while restoring backup from old version to 5.200?

    as usual..what hardware is this running on.  On my machine it takes about 5-10 minutes to fully crunch through a backup restore.  It may seem it has hung but it may just be crunching hard.  When the system tells me the backup is restored i then reboot just to make sure.

    As per the manual it says that when a backup file is selected for restore it displays a confirmation page and once accepted only then it proceeds with the restore. But for me the confirmation page also does'nt come up. The moment i press start it just hangs and i have tried leaving for few hours but nothing happens.

    I am using dell gx110 with 128Mb ram. i have quiet a few friends running same model system with astaro and it works really great. This is the first time i have faced any problem with astaro otherwise i am very happy using this software for last one year.

    You really should have at least 256 megs in that machine.  I would guess that is why it hangs..it simply runs out of ram and can't handle it.  I am pushing things here with 256 megs.

    OK. I upgraded the system ram to 256Mb and tried again but still same problem. Don't know why its happening

    try sending the  noapic and nousb arguments to the kernel when yous tart Astaro.
