Changing to ASL 5: Cardbus NICs unsupported?

Hi,
I tried to change my firewall from Mandrake with Shorewall to ASL 5.2.
Unfortunately ASL doesn't support Cardbus (PCMCIA) NICs. My box is an old Toshiba Laptop, ~500Mhz PIIIm CPU, 512MB RAM, 30GB HDD. I Really don't want to change to a desktop computer because this notebook is very quiet, power consumption is extremely low and if closed it fit's under the cupboard [;)]

I could eysily compile PCMCIA-support into the ASL kernel, of course for that I would need at least the sources.

Has anyone ever tried something similar before? [:S]
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!

ASL does not support PCMCIA NICs but PCMCIA WLAN.

It's difficult to install compilers or to use source code for ASL. Also the source codes you can get from Astaro isn't always available in newest version. It is available at http://download.astaro.de/gpl/
