Astaro crashes after a period of constant traffic

When downloading from torrents Astaro freezes after some time, and does not respond to anything. Just the reset button works.

 Specs: 
Astaro version: 5.200
Motherboard: Asus P4V8X-X
CPU: Intel Celeron D 320 2.4 GHz 256KB
Memory: Some old noname 256mb
NIC: the onboard + a GB nic with I cant remember the name.

I have a feeling that some of this hardware specs can cause the problem, so I have ordered new parts, taken from the compitability list of ASL5:

Motherboard: Asus P4S8X-X
NIC's: D-Link DFE-530TX
A new memory module from Corsair (PC3200)

But I have a dull feeling that there might be something else causing this unexpected crash.. Any ideas?
There is nothing in the log, just normal activity.

EDIT: I just broswed the Intrusion protections log, and found several lines containing:

2005:03:11-11:05:15 (none) snort[835]: [1:2181:0] A P2P BitTorrent transfer [Classification: Potential Corporate Privacy Violation] [Priority: 1]:  {PROTO006}

Could a massive logging of this kinda traffic cause the crash?

    try with ips deactivated and it should solve your problem. if you need ips than should take some time and configure it to your need. because if you would like to download torrent files then you shouldn't block them in ips

    I am having the same problem.

    Configuration:

    ASL v5.200

    Dual PIII, 733MHz
    1GB RAM
    Quad D-link Gb card
    40GB HD


    I have IPS disabled...haven't used it...

    After a while of bittorrent activity, ASL just freezes...reset button needed...

    Did some testing and found out that the problem may lie with the Dlink cards. I put in a 3Com card for the internal interface, an Intel for the External and opened a few torrents to max out both up and down overnight.  It held...

    Yes, bad NICs would do it.

    And here I thought the Dlink cards had been getting better over the years. Back around 10 years ago, one of the quickest way to eliminate network problems was to locate all the Dlink NICs and cull them.

    You can't go wrong sticking with 3Com and Intel NICs. Generally speaking, they are the best.

    It seems that everyone must learn that lesson for himself. Years ago I had a machine which did the firewalling and routing for my home network (at that time running on ipchains). I could cause such a freeze by doing much traffic, and from time to time even a NIC died. Initially, I bought 4 realtek cards, but after the second one died in only a few months and the freeze problem persisted I decided to drop the realtek cards and bought 3COM cards instead. Since then no more freezes, and all cards are running fine.
    Every so often I tell that story, because I spent DAYS searching for the source of the freeze problem, time I could have spent more useful.

    Please keep in mind that this posting does only reflect my personal opinion; it does not state or reflect those of Astaro. I just wanted to add my 0.02$ - in hope that it saves you time.
