get astaro online

Help me!!!

I have installed astaro v5 for home use and have the software running. i can get to web admin and all but astaro wont connect to the internet!! i have an external modem for dsl and that is to a nic in the firewall and than to the local switch. windows xp computers on my network say that when astaro is up and not an external gatewy that there is limated or no connectivity. can astaro be a gateway? if so how do i do that feature??? i have dhcp on but the computers wont get a ip from it!!! Please Help!!

    Sure, ASL is a firewall and designed to be a gateway solution.Does your ASL receives an IP address? You will see it in the Webadmin >> Network >> Interfaces. If so, you have additionally configure the following steps:
    1) Define a Masquerading rule to mask you internal addresses with your external IP
    2) Set packet filter rules to allow the certain traffic like HTTP, FTP ... through the firewall
    3) Enable name resolution. Wheater you have to use the DNS-Proxy on your ASL or if your are running an internal server, you can either set it into the forwarding section of your DNS-Proxy or configure a packet filter allowing traffic to Port 53 in Internet.
    That should do the trick. In the knowledge base at www.astaro.com/kb, you will find further information.
