Installation error on boot

I am trying to install ASL v5 on my test box. Hardware meets req's.  On boot (from CD) i get this error which happens to be the first line:
ISOLinux: DISK ERROR 01, AX=42E0,9F
of course this stops the system from any response except the 3-finger salute.  Anyone have any ideas?  It's a 16GB Seagate drive, almost new, and works fine with other OS's.

wht other OSes have you tried on that box?(not jsut hte hdd).  Try using hte noapic argument to the kernel.
