Kernel Boot Options for password reset

Situation:
Hi.. I forgot the password.
Both root one and web admin.
No CD is installed on the PC where ASL running.

On some other posts i read about "single" option to be issued at boot time. I wrote "linux single" but it still asks me the login and pass.

Someone has a list of kernel options able to be passed? Or another way to login as root for example?

The last way is to install a CD.. i know.. but wanna find another way if exists.

Thanks in advance,

Falco
