Hello, 

Would anyone Be willing to share examples of home use setups ? or viseo diagrams? 

I downloaded th e manual and am itching to try this , if it works I want to buy the suite fo rhome use.

I Have a home license now ..I Guess it does not expire , bu tif this works I want to donate some how to the cause.

I am going to demonstrate this at my I.T. College , they may consider it  so says the dean.

I need  to practice with it at home first .

for my home use ....

1. I have  4 pc's

2. one wireless laptop

3. one router 

4. one dsl modem

and if need be will by a switch  or anything else.

I may add a server as well  ( Its Down for Hardware upgrade now ) 

Just Looking for some direction....mom will kill me if Ilose the internet on her pc lol

Would also like to be able to have my brother VPN in to me 

I Know I have to read the manual more on that , but is that possiable from a home network standpoint ?

Does any one have diag in viseo or somthing to share as a guide ? 

P.s. I am Double nated  ( N.A.T.) with my DSL  and Home Router.

    Hi,

    You should read the initial setup guide here:

    Other docs can be found on the docs.astaro.org site.

    You will need a dedicated PC for ASL.  Say a PIII450 or better with at least 256MB RAM, 10GB minimum HDD and 2 network cards, (3 if you want a DMZ).

    Set up network like this:

    INTERNET---DSL Modem---Firewall---Switch---PC's

    The firewall acts as router so you don't need it anymore.

    VPN is no problem.

    Use a PC with 3 network cards for your ASL box. That way you can have a separate DMZ network. Connect your Wi-Fi access point to the DMZ network for maximum wireless security. Then use VPN over the wireless connection to connect to the Internal network.

    The complete network should look like this:

    Code:
    Internet - Broadband modem - ASL - Internal net - Ethernet switch - PCs
                                 ASL - DMZ net - Wi-Fi access point - Laptop
