5.027 Kernel Upgrade...!

Anyone tried this update yet. I'm too scared to do it after having to reboot after the last couple of updates - will this one requre a power cycle or maybe it can only be done in the dark!

Seriously, let me know your experiences. I am most worried about the new network card drivers for e100 cards which I use.

  • I have updated three ASL v5.026 boxes to v5.027, which each use very different hardware, and so far encountered no problems.

    Actually, I just discovered now that CPU load dropped by 40..60% depending on the hardware, e.g. on a P-II/350 MHz CPU load dropped from nearly 60% to 30%, and on a Xeon 2.7 GHz from nearly 15% to 6% or so.

    Quite a pleasant surprise!

  • Nod just changed over to v5 after the ez-ipupdate format string problem.  The system is running nicely(no more messages about stuff not running!!!!woohoo!)
