Can't get internet connection!

Netgear DG834G ADSL router between firewall and Internet
I can connect to webadmin
I have attached notebook to router and access internet
I have set external nic to dhcp and it gets it's ip address correctly from router
I have set DNS proxy to ISP DNS server
Still cant get up2date or internet access
can't ping host or external ip address from astaro
Have set a rule on router to allow all traffic both ways
have set packet filter rule to allow all internal access to external via http.
Where to from here????? [:S]

I realize that this does not answer your question, but why would you have a router between your ASL box and the internet? Just plug your DSL modem directly into the outside inteface. If your DSL provider requires PPPOE, you can setup the outside interface as a PPP over Ethernet connection. Then the external interface on the ASL box would be assigned the PUBLIC IP address from your provider, not your Netgear router,

Again, not an answer to your guestion, just a question of my own.

I don't have an ADSL Modem, the DG834G has a modem, by allow all access on all ports it is basically acting as a modem.
What it comes down to is that I am trying to make do with what I have.

so your setup looks like this:

(private-ip-range) - Astaro - (some-other-private-ip-range) - Netgear-Router - (Internet)
right?

does your netgear router know about the private-ip-range behind astaro? maybe you need to add another static route on the netgear router, or enable masquerading on the astaro box.

Finally got Astaro to connect...replace router with modem and replaced network cards with another network card...still can't acces the internet from the workstations though, can't seem to get the user authentication to work and neither the proxies...this is way tooooo hard!!! I think I'll go get ISA...

I now have internet connection from Astaro and have moved my attempts to the HTTP Proxy forum. I believe initial problems were with faulty network cards - two of them...
