Hyperthreading performance

I'm installing Astaro on our new Dell Poweredge server we purchased. This is a single CPU Pentium 4. Has anyone done any performance testing with Astaro to determine if Hyperthreading helps or hurts? I need to decide whether to disable Hyperthreading and install the single-cpu kernel, or enable HT and install the SMP kernel. I just want to make sure that HT won't hurt performance before I install it.

You have to have a LOT of traffic to notice any difference (if there is a difference).

I'd say turn it on, it works good on our Linux 2.4 based webservers.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but I wanted to check. I mainly wanted to make sure it wouldn't *break* anything, or cause weird performance problems. [:)]
