I noticed that the HCL (hardware compatibility list) has a couple of 3ware controllers listed as "e" (expected), but not "t" (tested). I wasn't sure who to notify of this, but I have tested the 3ware 5000, 6000, and 7000 series controllers on ASL 4 and ASL 5, and they all worked just fine.
Of course there is no way for ASL to monitor the status of the drives on the controller (since 3ware's 3DM utility is not installed), but the OS sees and uses the controllers just fine.
