We're currently looking to build a Dell Poweredge server to run ASL for a local school. I just wanted to check in with you all to see if you've successfully run ASL on any Poweredge servers other than those listed in the HCL (hardware compatibility list). I see that the ASL has been officially tested on a couple of the Poweredge SC models, but what about the slightly higher end line such as the Poweredge 700 and up? I only ask because I'd like to do a mirrored, hot swap drive set. The SC line of servers does not offer hot swap, though. It's not critical, of course, but it sure makes things easier and reduces downtime when I can just pop the bad drive out and put a new one in.
So, can anyone verifty that ASL will work fine with the Dell hot swap backplanes? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't since ASL does apparently support the PERC4-SC controller, but I wanted to make sure.
