Cable modem, problem with DHCP

I’m using Internet via TV cable and had no problems in the past. Yesterday
the provider changed from static IP addresses to DHCP. At the moment I have
problems to configure the WAN interface. If I try to use ‘Assign by DHCP’,
the interface stays down. If I put in the assigned IP address, gateway etc.
manually, everything works.

As ‘Type’ I’m using ‘Standard Ethernet interface’. Do I have to use
something else?

I don’t want to do this every 2 weeks. Does somebody have a workaround?

    Are you now being authenticated based on MAC address? If so, your external NICs MAC address needs to be registered with your internet provider.
    Delete you existing interface definition for the NIC you're using as your external connection.
    Then click NEW.
    Give it a name ("External" comes to mind)
    Your Type should be Standard ethernet
    The IP, Netmask, and GAteway should all be set to "Assign by DHCP".
    Click Add.
    Your NIC will show as down for a minute or two. Log out then log back in.
    If it is still showing RED, click the red/green icons then exit the window after it changes.
