I am trying out the ASL Version 5 software, latest downloaded from the web site. I have installed the software on a spare machine used as the firewall and the installation went ok. The last step is to connect the internal NIC and reboot the firewall and then connect to the firewall from the management machine to finish the configuration. I attached the internal LAN and rebooted the firewall. The firewall started up and then prompted me for a login password which I cannot find any information on.
My system consists of a cable modem which is attached to the firewall external NIC with a cross over cable. The one internal XP machine that I have is connected to a switch and then from the switch to the protected internal NIC card with regular patch cables.
The XP machine cannot get an IP address and defaults to the 169.?.?.? IP (cannot remember whole IP address). I can release this IP address but cannot renew the address. I used the IP addresses as shown in the installation guide.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what what might be the problem and what is the logon prompt when the firewall starts up.
Thanks in advance.
