Intel PRO/100 NIC settings?

i have an ASL 5 box which hangs horribly and randomly, and by chance one of the guys testing the hardware typed some console commands and the self test of the NICs executed.
in the selftest/config y saw the line "CPU cycle saver enabled"

¿where can i config the advanced properties of each nic?, because i don't want to save cpu cycles, i want maximum BW

    I believe what you are talking about is also called bus mastering, and trust me, you want it enabled.

    it doesn't sounds like that, and in windows you cannot change bus mastering settings either.
    i'm basing my guess on the windows drivers, in which there is a performance/cpu use slider, and by default it's balanced.
    there is also a pci bus efficiency setting, qhich doesn't sounds like this setting.

    i'll google about linux driver settings...

    throw out your windows knowledge when it comes to linux..you want the cpu savings on..that makes the nic bus mater(similar in concept to DMA for hard disks)  if you turn that off you will decrease performance not increase it.  What hardware are you running?
