Installing v5

Hi All

New to Astaro Firewall.  I am trying to install this version on a Dell GX110.  This is a PIII 600 with 256MB RAM.  The CD boots fine and I go trough the installation steps but as soon as I press F8 to move on from the licence screen I get a message saying that the installation failed..please remove the CD and reboot.  I have tried this installation a few times ... all fail in the same place.  I will try again tomorrow using different hardware but I was just wondering if anyone has come across this message before and knows what the issue is.

I am guessing that the software does not like the hardware :-)

    Chuck,

    Your problem sounds like it might be some sort of hardware compatability issue, but it's a little hard to say without more info.  Hopefully, you've got it running by now.  If you're still having trouble, and if you're a business user in the U.S., please feel free to call our office at 866-888-2898 and we'll get you the support you need right away.

    I've had similiar issues (not with ASL though) and it turned out to be bad media.  Try re-burning the install iso, and maybe use another brand of CDR's.  I've got a couple older drives that absolutely will not  function well enough for an OS install with newer CDR/CDRW media.

    It's worth a shot, at least before you tear apart your machine swapping hardware!
