Some questions about ASL 5

your speed issues could be a measure of your cpu..what speed cpu are you suing?  Also how much ram is in the machine.  As for your subsequent questions i am not folowing you..i apologize.

Well im using this hardware for 5 users:

Intel Celeron 700 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 20 GB IDE 5200 rpms

top output:

Tasks: 133 total,   3 running, 129 sleeping,   0 stopped,   1 zombie
Cpu(s):  35.3% user,  13.1% system,   0.6% nice,  51.0% idle
Mem:     61120k total,    59640k used,     1480k free,     1640k buffers
Swap:  1052248k total,   156408k used,   895840k free,    12820k cached

Well to my subquestion ... 
i want to create serveral groups, which have different acl's to get connect to the www. Now i want to deligate some special users who able to block this groups from browsing at the www. So i need a login to the webadmin interface only with the grant options to perfom the user / group access to the www. 

Oh by the way i have a new question ... is it possible to set new tcp/udp protocols to block or grant for traffic like media player, winamp, edonkey and so on ... i didnt found any setups for that.

first off..you are terribly short on ram..you should never be using that much swap..you need at least 256 megs ram..but with your swap usage i would raise it to 512 megs.

hm ... okay ... but this is probably the on Board Grafik Controller who takes this RAM. 

But i have some experiences with squid, dansguard and additional plugins for av control. this works just fine on a smaller machine without problems for 100 people. The main reason for this laggy thing is probably the av scanning during the browsing trough the www.

On www.astaro.com, you find a hardware calculator which calculates your hardware requirements for the choosen features with ASL.

first off the onboard graphics are set to 64 megs..reduce that to 8(if you can) then put more ram in that machine..as i said you need at least 512 megs for that setup..

let me further clarify..you need 512 megs available to ASL to use so you really need jsut under 600 megs of ram if you leave the onboard graphics set to 64 megs.
