Latest Up2Dates Cause Memory Leak ?

After installing the 2 latest Up2Dates (5.014/5.015) My Astaro FW is steadily consuming more and more memory. In the past 30 hours the FW has gone from using a steady 150 MB RAM to about 265MB RAM, no other changes besides Up2Date were performed. There seems to be another memory leak introduced in one of the latest Up2Date updates... Has anyone else seen this? It is running on an IBM x305 2.66 GHz 512MB RAM w/Gbit adaptors.

    silly question but have you checked the basics like IDS settings not changed... your not just seeing more blocked traffic... proxy that was of is now on etc

    Yes, none of the IDS/IPS has changed unless something was introduced in an Up2Date. Also, there has not been any change in traffic (good or bad) that corrisponds to the steady increase in memory usage. My memory is at almost 300 MB now.... I guess I could try to turn of the IPS and see if it is linked to that, it would be a start anyway.

    I am not seeing the same. I am just using SMTP. POP3 Proxy both with antivirus.  No HTTP proxy or IDS.  Memory seems fine.  I did reboot after last uptodate though.  I wonder if that might help.

    I tried restarting the IPS and that has helped to level out memory usage, but it is still running at 50MB higher than it was before which I don't mind so much I just don't want the system to over run it's memory. I don't like to restart the whole system unless it is required because it is in production.
    If the memory rises again I'll throw another port here.

    Well Just restarting the IPS has not changed anything as I previously thought, the memory usage is still climbing steadily. I really do not want to reboot the system, it should not be needed, we're not running windows here...

    do you have the http proxy on as well?  
    also do you have content filtering on?

    I do not have the http proxy running nor do I have content filtering.

    does the memory usage continue to increase after disabling ips/ids?

    No, it does not increase. I tried a test last week where I disabled the IPS and the memory dropped and stayed steady, then when I applied the IPS again the memory did the same thing. One thing to note is the memory usage drops a bit at 12:00 am when the system does something maybe via cron.

    that is when the system cleans the log files up and compresses them.  I bet the behaviour is caused by the intense logging ips/ids does when active.  Also keep in mind that Linux caches everything it can in RAM for better performance.  To see alinux box at near 100% ram usage is not unusual..jsut make sure swap usage is less than 5% at all times..if it goes up then you need more ram..i doubt it is a true memory leak..[:)]
