Astaro Newbie

Hi Guys,

I am new to astaro firewall,

here is my senario

i have a high speed adsl connection and 4 computers via lan and 1 computer via WiFi.

at the moment i have a Dlink DSL302g modem bridged to a Dlink Di624+ Broadband router/WiFi access point.

I have Astaro installed on a linux box with 2 Intel Pro Mgmt adapters.

I am at odds on what the best setup is.

or would it be better to use a VPN internaly.

any comments or help much apreciated

    hi! 
    VPN for internal communications not smart move.
    Connect ur LAN through a NIC in ASL
    and for wi-fi check astaros hardware compatibilty list,also if possible go through the manual on documntation site or initial setup, for basic configurations.

    Assuming that you want the computer on the wifi connection and the wired computers to all be on the same network, your solution is:

    Modem--->Astaro----->Switch----->Wifi and Wired Computers

    Put the wireless access point into bridge mode and turn on DHCP in the Astaro, just let the AP pass along the IP addresses via DHCP.

    Forget an internal VPN - that's a pain in the neck.  If you need to protect your wireless network from the internal network, just put the wireless network on a third NIC card as a DMZ.
