interface?

when i have an appliance with 11 nics and have configured eth0(internal), eth4(external), eth8(dmz) and eth11(test) and import the backup of this appliance to an other appliance with 5 nics i have then the following. external and internal functions. but eth8 and eth11 are down. because the hw doesnt exist.    and when i want to edit this the hardware is default staying on eth0 and type is emtpy. and the rest of the information is as it was on the old appliance. but when you change hardware it resets the old interface configuration. and you can type it all over again. i wanted to share this information.
