Install Help Needed. -- Adaptec Raid

I just bought a new Dell server with an Adaptec SATA Raid controller. When I try to install ASL5, it tells me that there is no HD installed. Is there a way to load a Linux driver for the Raid controller so the installation can take place? -- Help !!

    Is the RAID controller on the Astaro compatibility list? No...

    You would have to add the driver manually.  If you can find a suitable Linux driver and know how to hack it in, go for it.

    Otherwise you are sunk until Astaro build a driver into ASL.  At the moment I believe there are 0 IDE RAID drivers.

    Nope, it's not on the HCL, unfortunatly. -- What, if anyting, can you suggest in "hacking in" a driver for this device? -- It's an Adaptec CERC SATA1.5/6ch Raid adapter.

    Astaro doesn't support SATA at all right now, much less SATA RAID.  This is actually a GOOD thing -- a firewall should be rock-solid stable, not toying with the bleeding edge of new technology.  If you still want to use that SATA box, then what I'd suggest you do is install a regular EIDE drive on an available port and run the system up on that until SATA is supported, and then you can switch over.

    Over 2 years later, and the CERC SATA RAID controllers still aren't supported...

    Don't ask me how I know.

    The megaraid* drivers need to be updated to something more recent. Maybe at the same time the legacy megaraid drivers can be added to fix the problem where ASL 6 went backwards in hardware compatibility and some megaraid cards stopped working. All halfway recent Linux distributions handle this right now!
