[ QUOTE ] Does anyone know how to get the opensource version of v5.011 (selection during installation NOT to install all features) running?
[/ QUOTE ]Astaro included the ability to install just Linux, without any of the Astaro enhancements, in their installation program in order to meet the legal requirements that Linux and other open source components must be freely distributable. You are the first person I know of who has actually tried to use that option. If it is just Linux that you want, using an Astaro distribution CD is probably not your best choice. I would recommend using Red Hat's Fedora core as your starting point.
The main reason to chose Astaro's distribution, is to get the full meal deal Astaro Security Linux setup, with its Webadmin and all the enhancements. To try to roll your own firewall based on Astaro's underlying Linux distribution and their open source software collection seems rather pointless, since they will give you a free license for home use. You will just end up trying to duplicate all the work that they have put into their finished product.
