Install V5 over serial console (w/o VGA)

Hi all,
I have to install ASL V5 on a box w/o a vga card. I forced the kernel to give me a serial console via a the append line (console=0,34800) from isolinux. While seeing the kernel booting I get something like "cannot find initial console" and then the kernel stops booting.

Any hint? Did astaro forgot to compile the serial console stuff into the standard kernel?

I don't think you can install Astaro this way. At least, we've never tried. Why can't you install a video card? What are the specs of the machine you're trying to load ASL on?

The box uses a kind of "mini-motherboard" without pci connectors. It is completely controlled via serial console, even the bios screen is displayed this way.

It is an astaro appliance with v4 pre-installed. Installing the hdd in an "normal" system won't work, the hardware differs too much.

Installation of V4 on this box is no problem with a console on serial devices, V5 makes trouble.

try contacting the vendor of your appliance, they have to give you an answer
