ID940 Older videocards may not support framebuffer/bootsplash

Still getting a video mode error in 5.010
Vid card is an old Diamond PCI card
/proc/pci:
S3 86c968 [Vision 968 VRAM] rev 0 (rev 0)
IRQ10

It IS VESA compliant according to the card.

check /etc/lilo.conf. there are 4 sections for booting the kernel. two of them use framebuffer with 'vga = XXX' where XXX is a 3 digit number. try setting the number to 785, then do this:

mount -n -o remount,rw /boot
lilo

reboot to see if it helped. you can also replace the XXX by the word 'normal' (without quotes) and try again.

785 doesn't work either, but normal works.
