Slow Webadmin

Hi,

I run V5 on a brand new PC. So the requirements would not be a problem.

The Internet Connection from the Internal Network is fine. But the connection to the Webadmin is very slow. I have to wait about 30 sec. for each site. It needs about 20 Secounds to login. What could be the problem? How can I fix it??

    Are you sure, that RAM will make it faster? I thought 128 MB are enough to work. Could there be any other problems??

    my ram usage is currently at about 364mb/512mb

    no not actaully..this is a well reported issue.  I ran v5 with 192 megs ram without issue.  never used more than 140-150 megs or so.  The only mods i did was a squid mod to make it cache to hdd instead of ram...[:)]

    I bought a new firewall box for my office firewall on Friday.

    Athlon 2500+
    1GB RAM @ 400MHz
    7200rpm 40GB IDE HDD with 8MB cache.
    4 x Intel Pro 1000 Gigabit cards.

    No more slow webmin ! [:)]

    same as Simon...  Will you even said yourself you use over 128mb.  I would recommend 256 - 512mb.  I too have 1GB.  had no issues since v5.004

    that's a fair amount of money for a dedicated firewall.  Frankly this cdatabase engine for ASL needs to be tweaked..throwing hardware at it may fix it..but does not solve the underlying slow performance issue.  I am upgrading my cpu to 450 for my v5(when they fix pop3) and i hope webadmin will get some speed tweaks as well.

    Well my asl run on  intel xeon 2.8 with 1go ddr ram   (ibm server)  and the web admin is very slow  in v5 , for exemple the routing menu take about 20 sec to open . Ok i have about 600 routes in routing tab but  its about two or tree tie more long than v5

    I must admit, even the new AMD 2500+ with a gig of ram runs v5 webmin *slightly* slower than v4 runs on a PII 450.

    Just validates my point that the confd database needs tons of improvments in the performance dept.

    hmmm... i think my pocket calculator also reacts faster then my asl box. on the other hand, the asl box can do much more than the pocket calculator . [;)]
