tape driver

Hi, 
I am trying to get my tapedriver to make backups, but i can't find the right tapedriver. I have 1 version of the pluspack, wich is compiled with kernel 2.4.19-C2_27, but my astaro kernel is 2.4.19-C2_23 and is nog compattible. Also i have tried with Astaro 016 (kernel 2.4.22-C1_8) and Astaro 017 (kernel 2.4.22-C1_10), but no success [:(]

Is there anyone who has ide-tape.o compiled for version 2.4.19-C2_23 (i believe is astaro 4.000) or the others kernels, or does someone know where to download astaro with kernel 2.4.19-C2-27?

    The abillity of Astaro to e-maill its configuration pretty much IMHO negates the need for a tape drive.  If the hdd fails youisntall a new one....reinstall your Astaro software..restore the backup and input your license.  Very easy.  Plus you do not have to leave your machine open to internal exploits by trying to get an old kernel to 
    work.

    Well, I wish i could do that, but unfortunaly, right now I have already a working smb-share on my 4 (registrated) astaro machines. On top of that, I cannot tell my superior to buy 4 more servers just for a tapedriver. There must be some other way, and i agree it is less safe, to have other running services on my firewall, but the company it is for, is not a bank. Can someone provide me with a working pluspack or a tapedriver for any version of astaro?

    You are using Astaro for the wrong purposes then. If you wanted a firewall/file server, you should look elsewhere.
