Installing V5 ASL on a PPro 200?

I have a question about installing ASL V5.
At present I'm running V4 on a Ppro 200 with 128 meg ram and a 2.5 gig HD.
I have read the sys req's for ver 4 and ver 5.
My question is my ver 4 works well under this setup, will ver 5 install and run under the same?
I hate to be left behind with new product developments and would like to test and run ver 5 on this same setup.

Any feedback on this would be welcome.

    I think you need at least 4GB HDD, otherwise setup will not continue.
    128MB Ram is to small. You should install at least 256MB.

    Hi iccnt

    Yes the V5 will install and run on a PPro 200, but it is inadvisable
    to install a V5 on it.
    The reason is, that V5 is a complete new Distribution with new features, which need more performance than the PPro can 't provide. The PPro can't provide enough performance for the basic features of ASL V5.
    So we recommend a Pentium 400 MHz with min. 256 MB RAM as a minimum.

    you need a minimum 6.4 gig drive..asl5 will refuse to install on a 4 gig drive.  I have a p-2 350 and performance outside of webadmin is fine(known issues notwithstanding)  I have 196 megs of ram which is good as long as you have squid tweaked(STF for the squid mods i am referring to) and do not have over 10 users.

    I've tested ASL V5 under VMWare on a IDE-Disk with 5 GB space sucessfully...

    Ive switched my Hardware to a PII with 333 MHz and a RAM-Size of 320 MBytes.
    The webadmin interface is running inacceptable slow and the CPU load (looking with 'top') is never beneath 75 percent [:(]
    So i have switched back to ASL V4.022 which runs fine.

    a friend of mine is running asl v5 on a p233 with 256mb and i tried to configure it this evening. But what should i say.....
    it takes about 10 minutes to ad a pf rule and so on. i activated the http proxy with av and we did 2 downloads. the result -> astaro was gone.
    So save your nerves and use according hardware. Or do you run Win XP on a 486? [;)]

    You have made my mind up for me, I'll be sticking with the V4.022 untill I atleast update all my systems....

    I originally tested the v5 betas on a PPro 200 MHz machine with 160 MB RAM. A 2.5 GB drive won't do, the software will not install on a drive that small. You'll need at least a 6.4 GB drive.

    You will absolutely hate the performance of ASL v5 on your PPro machine.
    It works, but the Webadmin is really S L O W.

    My advice, don't bother with it. Get yourself a 500 MHz machine with at least 256 MB RAM, and run ASL v5 on it instead.
