I don't like ASL V.5
Because I can not install that sh..
After press enter and a lot of dots stand it still
No Failure no Error message
I mean my Hardware is (powerful) enough 
P3 450 MHz, 512MB Ram, 15.361B Harddisk, 
3x 3com NIC, ATI Rage 128

Astaro I don't wont to play 3D shooter I want to secure my Network!

    New problem
    I' ve done a BIOS Update (Asus P3B-F) and now, the ASL CD boot I press enter: 
    Loading bzimage.sng
    Loading initrd.sng
    And then reboot my system! I try to burn the cd whit 8x speed.

    what happens if you let the system sit for a bit?  In other words take the cd out and go into the bios screen.  Let it sit for a bit at the bios screen.  If it reboots on its ownt he issue is hardware.  Also try loading windows on it to make sure it is not an ASL thing.

    I had the same problem with a new SCSI drive fresh out of the package.  With V5 I received no indication to the problem after hardware detection and pressing enter (only asc characters), but when I attempted the installation with V4, after hardware detection completed it showed the list of hardware found.  I pressed enter to continue, and the following screen stated that no hard drive was installed.  I rebooted the system and entered into Adaptec configuration tools and formatted the drive.  I rebooted the system and successful installed V5.

    well,
    have you tested your RAM with memtest or something else. 
    Failed installitions are caused often by defectively ram. I have this troubles verry often and the people tell me that the dimm worked fine for years but....... test it.

    You could also try burning a copy of Knoppix and seeing if that will boot on the system.   

    Kind of narrow down the problem.

    Just a suggestion.

    Is the Mode Parameter in the Bios set to "Normal"? On my System ASL wasn't running otherwise. I had been able to install but Lilo doesn't work when I tried to boot the installed system.
